Peter Myers has worked with Microsoft database and development products since 1997. Today, he specializes in all Microsoft BI products and provides mentoring, technical training, and training course content authoring for SQL Server, Office, and SharePoint. Peter has a broad business background supported by a bachelor’s degree in applied economics and accounting, and he extends this with solid experience backed by current MCSE and MCT certifications. He lives in Melbourne, Australia and has been a SQL Server MVP since 2007.

Taking Your Application Design to the Next Level with SQL Server Data Mining

Put simply, data mining uses technology to find patterns in data. These patterns be useful to derive knowledge about data, and also to predict outcomes. Specifically in this presentation you will discover how learned knowledge and predictions can enhance application designs and the user experience. You will be introduced to data mining fundamentals, and to Microsoft SQL Server Data Mining (applicable to SQL Server 2005 and later). Numerous demonstrations will show how to develop data mining models, and also how to embed data mining experiences and results into applications.

This presentation is a must for those curious to understand what data mining can achieve, and also for the developer looking to embed “Artificial Intelligence” into their application designs. It is guaranteed to thrill you with potential, and excite you with the ease in which it can be accomplished. Note that there is no requirement for attendees to have any data mining background. But be warned: This session includes numerous demonstrations ranging from the simple (involving no code!) to the more sophisticated.

Mastering the Excel CUBE Functions

This session explores the seven CUBE functions that are natively available since Excel 2007. Unknown to many business analysts, these useful functions can be used to retrieve data model members and values to create parameter-driven report designs.

The session topics will introduce each of the seven functions and describe practical uses and considerations for building creative reports and dashboards. It will cover good design practices and advanced scenarios, and also describe when to use, and when not to use, the CUBE functions.

Demonstrations will range from the simple, to the more sophisticated involving dynamic expressions, MDX expressions, integration of data from multiple data models, and macro-driven layouts.

This session is a must for those looking to drive more from Excel when reporting from a Power Pivot data, or an external tabular database or cube.

End-to-End SQL Server Master Data Services

This presentation describes how SQL Server Master Data Services can be used to implement Master Data Management (MDM). It introduces the discipline of MDM and maps common processes to the feature set of Master Data Services.

Topics include defining models, entities, attributes and hierarchies, to store and manage master data. Additionally, administrative tasks including business rules to validate data, the import and export of master data, model versioning, and permission management will be described. The two Microsoft user interfaces (the Master Data Manager web application, and the Excel add-in) will be covered, in addition to T-SQL scripting opportunities to automate master data processes.

This session will be of interest to data stewards, ETL developers and ETL administrators to appreciate what SQL Server 2012 (or 2014) Master Data Services can achieve.

Регистрация на встречу обязательна, при себе иметь паспорт, чтобы охрана пропустила в здание. Схема и описание, как добраться до офиса MTC: http://rutechnet.blob.core.windows.net/files/MTS_schema.pdf
